3. The Chocolate Museum Rūta is located in the longest operating sweet factory in Lithuania, which is already counting its second century of existence. This museum offers a special opportunity to wander through the labyrinths of chocolate history, see the cacao tree up close and explore the types of chocolate. By booking the education session in advance, you can become a chocolatier and make your own sweets. Enjoy a hot chocolate drink at the cafe right here and fill up your bags with sweet gifts at the shop.
4. A lot of surprises and fun await you at the Railway Museum. In this peculiar place, you will become a train driver for a short time, take a photo at an old steam locomotive or a narrow-gauge train carriage. You will also see what the station looked like when the first train arrived in Šiauliai and learn all about the daily life of railway workers.
5. Can you imagine what a bicycle built 500 years ago might have looked like?! You can see such an exclusive exhibit in the Bicycle Museum, where both children and adults can try their hand at cycling competitions.
6. Vanda Kavaliauskienė’s Cats Museum is the only one of its kind in the Baltic States. Cats are everywhere here: in shop windows, windows, on walls and ceilings. In this museum, you will see a huge painting of as many as 42 cats, which once lived in the home of a wealthy lady. You will be amazed not only by thousands of exhibits from all over the world, but also by cats walking around. The museum houses the Wildlife Garden, where you can get to know various exotic animals: listen to a talking parrot, give cockroaches a stroke or wrap a snake around your neck.
7. Šiauliai Riding Centre of Young Naturalists, located next to the Cats Museum, welcomes everyone who admires horses and loves nature. You can go horseback riding, hear interesting facts about horses or have an exclusive picnic.
8. While walking along the coast of Lake Talkša, you will experience a lot of good emotions and an adrenaline rush: a modern children’s playground, an energy labyrinth, sports simulators, water attractions, recreation areas and beautiful landscapes. You will not only have fun by the lake, but also taste delicious ice creams. Also, the Iron Fox, which shows off in the Lithuanian Book of Records as the largest animal sculpture, will be happy to be stroked and photographed.
9. In the Telephony Museum, you can try out a corded phone or call a friend from a telephone booth. Here you will learn interesting facts from the history of telephony and enjoy fun photo sessions.
10. Even more entertainment and recreation await you in the Central Šiauliai City Park. Playgrounds, fitness equipment, basketball and tennis courts, picnic areas and exotic trees will give your trip even more good mood and colourful impressions.
